Galaga control issue

Question from Geoff: I have a Galaga cocktail and the player 2 side has an issue with the fighter getting stuck in corner after about 2 minutes of play. Is this a wiring issue or board issue or something else? Thanks.

Response from Jonathan: Geoff,

Hmm, that’s an interesting one. It would seem to be a board issue but there are some areas that are worth checking out before suspecting the board entirely. You might check the voltage going to the board when the fighter gets stuck to see if it’s still correct. If the voltage is incorrect, you probably need to replace or rebuild your power supply. Of course, it would also be a good idea to check to make sure the toggle/joystick is working correctly at this point as well. If the voltage and the toggle/joystick are working properly then it probably is indeed a problem with your board. At this point, you might check out our post on Inspecting An Arcade Board to look for any areas which might not be working properly.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
