Help!!!
Question from Louis: Hey guys.. Love your stuff. I am in a bit of a bind. I just bought Big Buck Hunter 2 and right after transport the monitor started scrambling bad and making a really loud high pitched noise from the board behind the monitor. It goes on and off. One minute its fine – with the exception of a lot of yellow and the next it starts hissing at me and gets all scrambled (see pics attached). I am definitely a novice when it comes to this so any idea or help you have I would really appreciate it.

It looks like you might be having some sort of sync or voltage issue with your monitor. The loud high pitched noise that you are describing makes be think that the problem could be with your flyback but I’m only about 60% sure that’s the issue. Also, the overabundance of yellow could indicate that it’s time to install a cap kit. We have a post on Installing A Cap Kit that you might check out.
I went ahead and sent your question to Michael (our monitor guru) to get his input on your issue as well. I’ll let you know what he comes back with.
Remember that if you don’t feel comfortable making these types of repairs yourself you can always ship your monitor off to one of our recommended monitor repair guys. Just follow our instructions on Removing And Installing A Monitor Chassis to help you remove the chassis from your cabinet. Once removed, you can package and ship off your chassis to one of the guys we have listed on our Resources page under the heading Monitor Repair Services & Information.
