@horrorfanedge jamma problem/question

Question from Mike: Thanx again for replying to my tweet. I’m fairly new in the arcade world and need some help. I’ve been trying to get my hands on an NBA Jam arcade and found instead an Open Ice which I was told was compatible with NBA Jam as they are made by the same company. So I bought it and was able to also get my hands on an NBA Jam Jamma board (w sound board) so I was pretty happy to say the least….only problem…when I plug the NBA Jam board in the screen turns black and flickers and a loud humming sound comes from the unit? I’ve asked around and the only thing I’ve been told is that it could be because both games have different resolutions. But if that was the case wouldn’t I at least get sound?? Anyways, any help would be appreciated. I’ve included a picture of what the screen does when plugged in to the nba jam board. Also the open ice board works perfect…just not the nba jam 🙁

Let me know if u need any other pictures to help explain.

Thank you so much!!! 🙂
Mike

Response from Jonathan: Mike,

Even if the two games use different resolutions, you are correct in thinking that you should at least be getting sound from the board. It really sounds like the NBA Jam board might not be working properly. A good test would be to hook up the NBA Jam board in another JAMMA cabinet to see if you get picture and/or sound. You can also try adjusting your power supply just to see if it makes a difference. Check out our post on Checking And Replacing A Power Supply for more information.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.

Response from Tim: No they should both be standard resolution games….its looks more like your NBA board has issues. Do you have another game to test it in?
