ikari warriors

Question from Console Solutions: Hi, I have just purchased my first ever arcade cabinet. Ikari Warriors, it is the SNK non JAMMA 3 pcb board one.
Ok so when I first got it the plug was trashed, so i wired a new plug in and turned it on.
The video shows on the screen but there is no sound.

When I do the self test thing, it says CPUB ROM1 and ROM2 is good
But then it does a test of CPUA and says ROM1 is bad. And just resets.

How can I fix this? Am I forced to just hunt for a replacement PCB or can this one be repaired?

Thanks,
Console Solutions

Response from Jonathan: Hi there. There are a couple of things you can try before deciding to buy a new PCB. We highly recommend checking out the power supply in your game. It could be that the power supply is not putting out the right voltage to the board causing these issues to appear. Make sure that you check both the power coming off of your power supply and at the board. Please see our videos on Checking And Replacing A Power Supply and Checking A Classic Power Supply for more information.

If your video is working and just the sound is missing then you might try tracing the wires coming off of the harness connected to your board going to your speakers. It could be that these wires are cut or are not making a good connection. These wires are usually black and white in color and should go up to the top of your cabinet.

If you’ve checked both of these things and you are still not having any luck then you might try replacing the CPUA ROM1 chip. You can get a programmer and try doing it yourself or there are several guys who offer ROM programming services. Check out http://www.hobbyroms.com/ if you’re looking for someone to do some ROM programming for you.
