Jamma harness questions

Question from Tyler: I am putting together a tabletop arcade cabinet with a 60-in-1 board and JAMMA harness to a VGA Dell LCD monitor. My JAMMA harness comes with hookups for 1 and 2 player joysticks. My cabinet is for my cousin and I only have room for one joystick and 3 buttons. Is it a problem to only hook up one player and not use the 2nd joystick and button connections? What’s the best thing to do with the wires not hooked to any thing that are connected to the JAMMA harness? Just wanting to be safe. Thanks, Tyler

Response from Jonathan: Tyler,

Thanks for writing in. Let’s take a look at your questions.

> Is it a problem to only hook up one player and not use the 2nd joystick and button connections?

No, not a problem at all. In fact, all of the games on the 60-in-1 board can be played with one joystick and 3 buttons. The only time you would need a second joystick is if you were going to use the board in a cocktail/table top cabinet where the players were across from each other. As you mentioned, you will need to wire the joystick and buttons to the one player side of the harness and leave the two player side disconnected.

We like to bundle up the loose wires and zip tie them just in case we want to use them in the future. You typically use plastic clips that have a screw hole so we can clip the wire bundle inside the cabinet without it moving around. You can get these clips from most home improvement stores or from Amazon.

Hope that helps. Thank you for question and good luck with your repair.
