LCD Monitor Hookup
Question from Chad: Hi I was wondering if you could answer a quick question concerning LCD monitor hookup in a universal cabinet. I bought a Midway Universal Cabinet and used it for 20 minutes before the CRT monitor took a crap and died. I replaced the CRT with a 27†LCD monitor and hooked it into the PCB. This is a 42-1 PCB. I was just wondering if there is a way to hook the monitor into the arcade power supply so I can switch it all on together with the toggle switch on the machine? The CRT power supply used 2 purple (one with a stripe) and a green wire. Can I hard wire the monitor to this? Thanks for your help

Response from Jonathan: Chad,
Your best bet is to run the AC voltage coming from your cabinet’s main power cord through a on/off switch. This will inhibit the flow of electricity to the other parts of your cabinet as long as the switch is off. We also usually wire up a standard electrical outlet inside the game off of the main power cord for our monitor. Of course, if your monitor has an on/off button this really doesn’t “solve” the problem but at least everything in the cabinet will be getting power from one source.
