Lethal Enforcers Help!!!
Question from Adam: Hi guys!! I love your videos and podcasts they are extremely helpful. One area that doesnt get discussed much is the pcb. I have a Lethal Enforcers game that I receive the following error when running a test “EEPROM (Q 2) BIT CHECK FAILURE”. I beleive I have identified the chip but am not sure that it is the problem or if it is what to do to fix it. Im guessing I need to replace the chip but I think it is hard to find to buy.
The reason why Im not sure if the chip is the problem is because I see a disconnected transistor or something (not sure what it is called). I have attached a screen shot of the disconnected whatever it is. One end is attached the other isnt. Could this be causing the issue with the eeprom? It seems an obvious problem… any ideas what it is for or goes to?
The game worked fine until it was moved. When I turn it on the monitor displays a a what looks like a system check screen and it just stays and tells me how to go into test mode.
Any help would be much appreciated. I am contemplating just purchasing a new board but this seems like an opportunity to learn. Maybe I can send it in for fixing cheaper. Please let me know if you have ideas. Thanks!!!!!!

After reading your email and reading your schematic, it looks like the part you are referring to is a capacitor. It would be very helpful if you could send us an actual picture of your board so that we can confirm that this is the case. If it is a capacitor, we would highly recommend replacing it. All you have to do is find another one that has the exact same microfarad (the number with the u looking letter beside it) and that has voltage greater than or equal to the original cap. Make sure that you also put it back in the exact same polarity position (the + and the – in the same holes) as you found the original cap.
You can sometimes find these caps at Radio Shack but your best bet would be either a Fry’s Electronics or a local electronic parts store. If you do not have a place where you can buy electronic parts locally, you can try Mouser (http://www.mouser.com), DigiKey (http://www.digikey.com) or even Bob Roberts (http://www.therealbobroberts.net).
