Lifeforce pcb help

Question from Mike: Hello, I was hoping to get some help or advice or trouble shooting tips as to what to do here, because i made a big mistake, I have the 1986 Konami Lifeforce Jamma game inside a original Xevious cabinet,
It worked great it has the Jamma connecter so the board will work in this cab, the screens flipped, and the controls were swopped with Lifeforce controls,
The game worked but inside and out was vary dirty because the guy i got it from left it out in the rain…
So i began cleaning it, i went and unplug the wire harness from the Jamma connecter PCB then cleaned the teeth BUT i plugged it in back words! 🙁
then turned it on and was a black screen..So then i turned it off, plugged it in the right way and turned it on and the screen said CHECKING ROM…ROM OK, but that’s all it would do and the words never went away, then I turned it off then on again and now its a black screen and will not work anymore….
So do you think it might just be a capacitor or resistors blown and I should try and check them all…or do you think I may have blew the game chip sets themselves ????
I know its hard for you to say for sure but let me know what you think,
thank you for your time,
Mike
…and yes I know I made a vary dumb mistake, I was just not paying attention and also this cabs wire harness is a little rare in the since that it don’t have the clip in the middle that helps you not make this kind of mistake

Response from Tim: Dont sweat it Mike have done the same thing more than once. Check your 5v and 12 more than likely you did more damage to your power supply than you main board, but if your power supply is good and you actually did damage it look for first few components under the 5 and 12 volt wires (backwards) prob damaged first thing under them.
hope that helps
Tim
