monitor problems with video to diagnose
Question from Kendall: Hi Jonathan, it looks like you support a few online forums so I apologize if you have received this question already. I wanted to know if any of you two can guide me in the right direction of how to rehab this unit. The monitor appears kind of dim, and during the day the glare will make it even more dim. My backup plan is to put an LCD in here but wanted to know if this was salvageable first. Regards, Kendall

Response from Jonathan: Kendall,
Yes, it does look like your monitor is salvageable. Of course, it will depend if the issues you are experiencing are caused by your monitor chassis or your tube. If the problem is in your monitor chassis then this should be a very repairable issue. Otherwise you might be better off replacing your CRT with a LCD. We recommend starting off this repair by installing a cap kit on your monitor chassis to see if it makes a difference. Check out our post on Installing A Cap Kit for more information. Make sure you also adjust the B+ voltage on your monitor chassis after installing a cap kit as this can help with the brightness issues you are experiencing.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
