Monitor question
Question from Landy: New to this hobby, already obsessed. Thanks for the great YouTube videos. My question is: my arcade game plays great, sounds great and looks great. After a few hours, the color goes in and out. Crystal clear graphics to barely visible with low colors back and forth, great then poor. Could this be something was knocked loose during the transit? What do you recommend to troubleshoot it? Thanks in advance. Best, Landy

Response from Jonathan: Landy,
First off, welcome to the arcade hobby. Hopefully you find it as rewarding as we have over the years. Also, thank you for your kind words about our YouTube videos. We’re glad that you have found them helpful.
As for your question, it sounds like you’re having some high voltage issues with your arcade monitor. We would start off this repair by touching up some of the solder joints on the monitor chassis. Specifically look for any joints that may be cold and/or cracked. By doing this, you will ensure that the correct voltage is flowing to all the different parts of your monitor chassis. Also, make sure that all wires are connected properly as this can also be the cause of this particular issue.
Now, if you touch up the solder joints and you continue to have problems then you might be having some electronic components fail. At this point, we would recommend a rebuild kit for your monitor which usually consists of a cap kit, HOT (Horizontal Output Transistor) and a flyback. Since the problem seems to be a voltage issue, replacing these parts should resolve it. Of course, feel free to contact us again if you continue to have issues after this point or if you have any additional questions.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your questions and good luck with your repair.
