Monitor Question
Question from Brian: Hey,
I was wondering if you could offer a few tips or pointers. I recently purchased a used Hanaho ArcadePC Cabinet. I did purchase the cabinet as-is and never saw it power up in person. I had to transport it a good distant and bring it down a large flight of stairs. I have tried to boot it up and have only had success turning on the PC and marquee light, the monitor doesn’t seem to want to turn on. The basics are there, power supply plugged into surger and surge protector is on, but the monitor doesn’t turn on. I don’t hear any noise or notice any orange glow. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? I don’t know what kind of monitor, besides it being a 24″ arcade monitor.
Thanks!
Brian

Response from Jonathan: Brian,
First off, let’s check the connections to your monitor. There should be 2 connectors that go from the cabinet to the monitor. One of those connectors should be for power, the other connector should be for the video signal from the PC. Make sure that both of these connectors are connected properly. You might also check to make sure that there is power going to the monitor by using a multimeter on the power connector.
If you check your connections and the power connector and the monitor is still not working, we highly recommend checking out our post on Troubleshooting Games That Are Playing Blind. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this kind of electronics work by yourself, you can always take out the monitor chassis and send it to one of our recommended monitor repair services on our resources page.
Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
