Ms. Pacman Cocktail issue

Question from Stephen: Hi there,

I had an issue with my Ms. Pacman cocktail game about 1 year ago. The monitor would roll and roll when I first turned it on and then it would finally level out and be playable. I took it to a repair guy and he fixed that problem, but recently (since about June 30th) it started to hiss and then the screen would go reddish in colour and you could barely see the gameplay. I found that if I shut the game off for a while it would turn back on and things would be back to normal. But last night when I turned it on, the screen was snowy and didn’t seem to boot up at all.

Have any ideas of what the matter could be? It has been quite humid here this summer and I thought originally that that may be a casue of the problems. What do you think?

Stephen

Response from Tim: That hissing sound is usually a leak in the flyback. Do you know what kind of monitor chassis it is? It could be a filter cap though too. If its the flyback then sometimes you will see cracks in it. There is a video on checking a flyback on our second DVD just released.

Bob sells a kit to fix that: http://www.therealbobroberts.net/monitor.html

Let me know,
Tim
