MVS Arcade Cab
Question from Josh: Hi,
I found a gentleman on craigslist that is selling a Neo Geo MVS 2slot arcade cab. He says it used to work until it was brought out of storage, but doesn’t now. He thinks it may be a power/circuit problem, but isn’t sure. He wants $250 for it, and it includes 2 games, but I don’t know if this is a good deal or not. This would be my first arcade machine and the first time I tried to repair one. Do you think this is a good idea or should I look for something else? Any help would be appreciated

Response from Tim: Hey Josh I have a general rule of thumb when buying games that are not working. No matter what the seller says treat it as such…..a NON working game and I dont pay more than $100 for a non working game unless its a rare classic like a star wars or something. Maybe it is a power issue and a cheap fix, but it also could be a powersupply, main board, and a monitor all bad you dont know. Think of buying games like buying a used car. If it doesn’t run its basically parts. If its something simple why didn’t the seller just fix it? Expect the worse and hope for the best. Just my opinion. We see plenty of them working and ready to go at auction for that price. Make him an offer. Not too many people are even going to take a gamble on it non working so he wont sell it easily. Bring cash 🙂
