My first arcade cabinet question
Question from Brett: Hey guys, I picked up my first arcade cabinet and wound up finding your awesome site. I’ve downloaded all your podcasts and I’m working on trying to catch up on them. You are doing a great service to the community! Keep up the great work.
The game is a working 1985 (Data East) Commando stand up unit. I have a 60 in 1 Jamma board coming that I want to put in it. The more research I try doing on this, the more I get confused. I’m hoping you might be able to clear it up for me.
I’m trying to figure out if this is a Jamma game board. There is an adapter board attached to the top of the main game board. The manual states that it is a “56 pin to 44 pin adapter and rfi filter pcb” I’ve attached a picture of this with the adapter disconnected so you can see the pins on the board. I’m hoping that I can just plug and play this thing using that adapter board.

All my research says that although it looks Jamma this is a non jamma board so please do not plug your 60 in 1 up to it. It will need to be rewired but dont fret it can be done without too much work.
That filter board is trash you can toss it …dont need it these days. Back in the day they used it to keep from interferring with older radios called RFI. Radio Frequency interference.
