need help with ch-288
Question: Hi, my chassis went down with a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse and it blew again. I pulled out the chassis and checked the diodes and the HOT (it’s a 4742). The HOT tests fine via the legs. I found a few bad, lifted or not soldered right connections: a capacitor, resistor, and AC pins that go out to the monitor and around it. I haven’t tried it yet after fixing these connections.
It went out while I was playing the gun game Target Terror (PC based). It wasn’t shooting right so I reset the machine and the monitor didn’t start up again. So I checked the fuse, changed it out, and the fuse blew.
What else can I check?

Response from Jonathan: At this point, you could have an issue with your flyback. Before suspecting that, you might check all the parts in the 500 section of the chassis (power supply) to make sure they are working properly. You might also test transistor Q401 and IC2 as these parts can sometimes cause some weird voltage issues if they are malfunctioning. Here’s a link to a schematic that might help you as well: http://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-monitors/Pentranic%20CH-288%20Switchable.pdf. Try tracing down the fuse line to find other parts that might be causing the issue.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your questions and good luck with your repair.
