Question from David: Hi guys, I was listening to some older podcasts and heard a couple times you mention that when you replace your power cord you could hookup the black and white either way and it would work. If you have covered this in a more recent podcast please forgive me for bringing it up. as you said it will work, however, it is very important to get the black and white wires correct. the reason is polarity. the black is the hot wire (live) and the white is the neutral (return). If wired incorrectly the cabinet switch would only stop the flow at the switch. Since the switch is usually wired first in a cabinet this means that any electrical surge or other problem could still damage your game. this also puts any fuses wired before the switch on the end of the circuit instead of at the beginning. if the game is turned off at the switch then this will completely eliminate those fuses from the circuit giving no protection in case of a surge. if the game is on then again the fuses are at the end of the circuit. any power issue would travel completly through the game and then finially to a fuse. Not the ideal situation. this also applies to monitor power, lighting, or any other a/c device. hope this is helpful. enjoy the show. God Bless. Be safe

p.s. a little example of what i am saying is the breaker outlet you find in bathrooms. older ones wired backwards would not trip if there was a problem. new ones don’t even provide power if wired backwards. polarity is very important in a/c wiring.
