Question from Michael: hi i saw your videos on youtube and i have a super mario bros arcade machine it doesnt power up or sound the screen did come on a few times but showed nothing when i hooked the monitor straight into the wall the screen hasnt came on since then. could you tell me what problems i should look for and where to start my search maybe send a video thanks for your help i look forward to hearing from you

Sounds like it could be one of two issues. The first thing to check would be your power supply to make sure that power is getting to your board. We talk a little about this process in our post on Checking A Classic Power Supply. You will need to get the pinouts for your board and measure the voltage at the harness to see if the correct amount of power is getting to your board. After you have confirmed that the power getting to the board is correct, the next thing to check would be your board. At this point, you can check out our post on Inspecting An Arcade Board to see if there are any obvious problem areas.

Response from Tim: We like to say use the ASAP approach. Always start at Power then go from there. If you have a meter you need to make sure you are getting voltage to your monitor first.
