Pac Man Multicade Issues

Question from Justin: I am new to collecting arcade games, have a few but I am not too savvy as far as repairing myself. I have a problem trying to install a 60-in-1 kit in my Pac Man. I bought the kit because I have 2 Ms. Pac Mans and one Pac Man and the boards are bad in all 3. Figured for same price as a new board I could get the 60-in-1. More entertainment, plus watching the install video it’s a plug and play and I can even do that. LOL. Ok I get the kit follow directions and the kit is dead in all 3 of my Pac Man units. All 3 of my Pac Man units are stock and I know they work. It should be a plug and play but I get nothing when I try the kit in all 3 cabinets. It looks like I haven’t even plugged it in. So I figure I must have a bad 60-in-1 kit because its not working in the 3 working cabinets. I put the 60-in-1 board in my JAMMA Mr. Do and it works so I know the board is not bad. Next I figure I got a bad power supply with the kit. I ordered another power supply still nothing in all 3 Pac Man cabinets. Help! Anyone have any idea what the issue could be?

Response from Jonathan: Justin,

It sounds like there is no power getting to the 60-in-1 board. You might try removing the board from the harness and using a multimeter to see if you are getting your +5 VDC and +12 VDC voltages to the correct pins on the JAMMA side of the Pac Man Adapter.

Remember that the power supply that you wire into the cabinet needs to have a 120 VAC going to it which can be accomplished by simply plugging it into a power plug or splicing into wires in the cabinet that carry the 120 VAC such as the marquee light wires. Also, ATX power supplies like these usually have a power switch on them that you will need to turn on for it to work properly. Make sure you have plugged in one of the 4 pin power connectors from the ATX power supply to the Pac Man Adapter as well.

If you’re still having trouble, you might take some pictures of the inside of your cabinet and send them to us via email at questions@arcaderepairtips.com. These should help us troubleshoot your issue further. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your questions and good luck with your repairs.
