Police Trainer 2
Question from Bryan: Hi, I have a Police Trainer 2 arcade game machine that is stuck in service mode. I scroll down to the word “EXIT” at the bottom of the list every time and it won’t exit. Booting up takes me right back to service screen. Any ideas?

Response from Jonathan: Bryan,
From your description, it sounds like your test/service mode switch or button is stuck in the on position. Usually this switch or button is located inside the coin door but can be located in other places as well. If you’re having trouble finding it, you can trace the corresponding wires from your JAMMA harness (using the JAMMA pinouts) to where they go in your cabinet and that should lead you to the test/service switch or button. Also, make sure that the test mode wire is not connected to a ground wire directly as this can also cause this issue. In fact, you might try removing the test and ground wires from your switch or button altogether to see if it solves the issue as well.
Just a note: this problem can sometimes be attributed to a test/service dip switch being in the on position but it doesn’t look like Police Trainer 2 has such a dip switch on the board so that rules it out for this particular game. Still, it’s a good thing to remember in case you experience this problem again with another game.
If you continue to have problems with the game being stuck in test mode, you might contact Skip at Team Play Inc. to see if he can help you find a solution. Team Play Inc. is the company that initially sold the game so hopefully they can help you out if you continue to have the issue.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
