Popeye

Question from Bruce: I just recently bought an upright “Popeye” machine off of somebody on Craig’s list. Everything is almost perfect with it, except the image needs to move over to the right if possible. I did attempt to turn the potentiometer inside the machine for H-Cent as mentioned in the owner’s manual and it moved it some, but not enough. I turned it so hard that the plastic cover broke. Fortunately it didn’t break the Pot. because it still functions. Do you have any idea how I might be able to get the screen to move over more. I am attaching a picture with this email. It wouldn’t be that big of an issue except you can just barely see the can of Spinach sitting on the Barrel that Popeye needs to hit to gain power.

Thanks,
Bruce

Response from Jonathan: Bruce,

It sounds like your horizontal width need to be adjusted. Unfortunately, most monitors do not have a potentiometer adjustment for horizontal width. You’ll need to adjust the horizontal width coil using a non-conductive tool in order to get the size you want. Check out our post on Adjusting The Horizontal Width Coil for more information.

Hope that helps, Bruce. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
