Power Supply Question
Question from Matt: Good Afternoon! I was watching your videos on YouTube and had a couple questions about a machine I picked up recently. Hopefully you’ll have some suggestions because at this point I am at a loss. 🙂
The game I have is a Tekken 4 that is in a Showcase Cabinet with the pedestal. I’m not getting any power to the game, but there is power going to the monitor. It has one of those computer style switching power supplies in it. It also has some strange connectors on the cables that I am not familiar with. I picked up a new power supply but it doesn’t have the same type of connectors. It has the ones you would use in a computer. Have you ever seen these types of connectors or know how I would re-wire it?
Any help you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it looks like your Tekken 4 showcase cabinet has an ATX style power supply. While it looks similar to a computer power supply, they do not have the same connectors. Now, you could cut the connectors off of your old ATX power supply, wire them to the correct wires on the computer power supply and jumper the power supply to come on when it received power but that’s kind of overkill for this project. Your best bet is to order a replacement power supply from an arcade parts seller such as Twisted Quarter or Suzo/Happ . You’ll notice that the power supply I linked to on Twisted Quarter specifically says it works with Tekken 4 (Kit Version) which is probably the version that’s in your showcase cabinet currently. The one I linked to from Suzo/Happ may not work depending on your setup. Of course, you can contact Suzo/Happ and they will be able to tell you for sure what you need to order.
