Power supply/Iso/Power transformer
Question from John: Hi,
I recently purchased a working Mortal Kombat II cabinet that has been converted to Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes (CPS2)
I want to start fresh with the inner workings of the cabinet including my power supply and unit that is getting power from the wall directly. I need a little direction in what replacement parts are suitable for this particular cabinet.
Attached to this email is a picture of my black power supply, and my power unit with the isolation transformer attached on top. I came accross this new power supply from twisted quarter (http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=1156) – A few questions:
-Would this type of power supply play the role of both my old black power supply as well as the power unit that is getting power directly from the wall? In other words, could this new power supply be coupled with the existing isolation transformer and essentially perform the say function as whats currently inside my cabinet?

You actually don’t need the power unit that the isolation transformer is sitting on. This is just to make it “easier” to distribute the AC wires once they come into the cabinet. Please note that you WILL need to keep the isolation transformer so that it can supply power to your arcade monitor.
As far as your power supply goes, it doesn’t matter if you use your current power supply or the one from twisted quarter. We personally prefer to use the regular switching power supplies like the one you currently have in your cabinet. The one that you linked to from twisted quarter would require some molex connectors and pins to hook up properly. The power supply currently in your cabinet can use regular fork terminals which makes installation a little less complicated.
