power switch

Question from Michael: Hey ART crew! Just wanted to tell a quick game moving story. I recently moved and we all know how moving games goes sometimes! After moving the game into my new basement game room I plugged it in and it came on for a second and then it just shut off! After checking all the fuses and power supply I was stumped. I was thinking about it for awhile when I thought it might be the toggle switch that turns the game on & off and sure enough that was the problem! Guess it really does pay to start simple. Since I always unplug my games after playing my solution was to just remove the switch and connect the two wires together with a wire nut. Could this be a potential problem and should I replace the switch? (it’s a converted SNK POW cabinet with a 60in1 board) Thanks again, Michael

PS. thanks again guys and I will be sending off my JAMMA extender harness this week)

Response from Michael: It may never cause a problem, but its always nice to be able to turn your game off from a switch and they are cheap and easy to replace. Lets say some water gets in your basement. You could just reach up and turn off the game versus having to uplug it from the wall while standing in water. Its also is of those small things that to us keeps the game originalif that’s your goal. Another alternative would be to put several of you games on good surge protector and use the switch on it to turn the games on and off. The fact that you unplug your games though makes your method seem logical and practical and I dont see a big issues with it.
