Question about Ms Pac Man Power Supply

Question from Matt: Hello,

First I would like to express how much the show has helped out my restoration. I recently acquired a Ms Pac Man machine out of a old barn. The cabinet was in real nice shape and everything looks great but the power supply on the bottom looks rusted out. Is it possible to replace the old power supply with a new switching power supply? Can i just wire it straight in with no line filter or isolation transformer? What would be the best way to replace it? Also do you guys have a kit I can buy from you? I want to get this thing running as soon as I can. Thanks for all your help.

First off, thank you for your kind words. We’re glad that you find our website helpful.

As for your questions, yes you can replace the old power supply with a new switching power supply. Yes you can wire it straight in with no line filter or isolation transformer. The best way to replace it would be to buy a kit from Arcade Shop (http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm#Power). You should see a link for a Ms. Pac Man Power Supply Conversion Kit. This kit is pretty inexpensive and can save you a lot of time. It’s pretty much a plug-and-play solution but let us know if you run into trouble during your installation. Hope that helps.
