Question from Dave: Hello, I really enjoy your video series, please keep up the good work. In the meantime, I have a question for you and I’m hoping you can help shed some light on this for me. I have a K4600 in a Galaga that has a really odd issue. The monitor can be on for hours and work just fine, looks really good and clear. Then, the next time I turn it on it’s rolling so fast you cant tell whats on the screen. If I attempt to adjust it, (while it’s rolling) nothing I do seems to make any difference with the exception of moving the image on the screen out of center – but it still rolls. If I Cycle power a few times and it will go back to normal. I’ve checked and cleaned all of the connections, everything looks fine. I would do a cap kit but it doesn’t look like it really needs one. Do you have a suggestion of what could be causing this? Thanks.

Sounds like you could have a bad horizontal or vertical hold potentiometer or a break in the traces that go to these pots. You might try checking these pots to see if they respond when you turn them. Check out our video on Checking Potentiometers With A Multimeter for more information. If the pots check out fine, you might touch up the solder on them and check the traces going to them to make sure there is not a break.
