SF2 arcade cabinet
Question from Martin: Hi, I want to buy this SF2 cabinet and put a multi-game board in it. I know Capcom uses a special jamma or harness. So my question is: Do you know a good multi game jamma board that is compatible with this type of cabinet? I’m searching for a plug and play solution without redoing all the cable of the machine. Thank you, Martin

Martin,
Unfortunately I do not know of any multi game JAMMA boards that are going to be plug and play in your Street Fighter 2 arcade cabinet. All of these boards are probably going to require some rewiring on your part. The main reason for this is because the standard JAMMA pinouts do not allow for more than 5 buttons per player. Since games like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat use either 5 or more, they require using an additional harness (called a kick harness) in order to allow for these extra buttons.
Many of the multi game JAMMA boards that I’ve seen use a modified version of the standard JAMMA pinouts that does allow for more buttons. They do this so that the kick harness is not necessary. With that said, some use a kick harness but it’s different from the one that’s currently in your Street Fighter 2 cabinet. This is why there is not a plug and play solution. Good news is that the rewiring is usually minimal and should be easy for you to do yourself if you read our posts and watch our videos on the JAMMA standard. Of course, feel free to contact us again if you have any questions about this process going forward.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your future projects.
