slight vertical collapse K7000 clone

Question from Nash: Hey guys. I have a slight vertical collapse on my Sharp Image K7000 clone. I have done a full cap kit replacement but I am having issues locating section of the board that controls the Vertical height adjustment. I have gone through the WG k7000 board PDF manual but still I can’t figure out where to start really. Turning the control pot for vertical height does nothing. I had some issue with the pins for the Horizontal, Vertical, and Brightness/Contrast control board pins. I did resolder the pinouts under the chassis board by following the traces. As you can see in the pictures, many of the cold solder joints just pealed off the chassis traces. What could be another route for me to go? I seem to have fixed width issues on this CPS2 game I am using but this vertical height issue is bugging me. Thanks.

Response from Jonathan: Nash,

Looks like you are having some sort of vertical deflection issue. This is usually caused by an problem with one of the ICs in the vertical section of your monitor chassis. On a K7000, I would tell you to check/replace IC2 and IC3; however, I’m not sure what these locations are on your Sharp Image monitor chassis. Sometimes a bad resistor in the vertical section can cause this issue so check them. We’ve also had problems with bad vertical width potentiometers in the past as well. Check out our post on Repairing Monitor Collapse Issues for more information.

If you continue to have problems, you might get back to me with the model number of your Sharp Image monitor. I might be able to find a schematic or something to help you out with your issue. Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
