Stargate arcade

Question from Joe: My name is Joe and I’m having a switch problem that I cannot solve. The game plays fine but the switches inside the coin door do not work. Nor does the advance button down below in the cash door work either. I know my widget (interface) board is good, and my Rom board shows a zero at start up so there’s no error codes. The game starts up and says all systems go. The interlock switch (inside the coin door) is working fine. There is current running to the 3 switches, advance, auto up, and high score buttons. I just sent the two boards above and the large CPU board out to get checked. What do I do if they come back Ok? The only other thing I noticed is that an interlock switch was removed from the back door and wired together with twist caps. Could that create a problem? I know many people would be happy just to play their game but I would like to use my coin door button to adjust the game play and get more ships or smart bombs. I’m just learning a lot of this stuff on a fly through friends that have machines as well. Oh by the way I even removed the safety interlock switch where it connects to the CPU and still no luck (temporarily).

Response from Jonathan: Joe,

It almost sounds like there is no ground getting to these buttons since all of them are not working. You might double check to make sure that the ground wires are properly connected to these switches. You can do this by using the continuity test on your multimeter and placing one probe on the ground wire of a non working switch and the other probe on the ground wire of a working button on your control panel.

The interlock switch that you described should be fine and should not interfere with the way these switches function. Just try double checking the ground wires and see what you come up with. Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
