Question from Eric: Dear Arcade Repair Tips, I am writing you to ask a question regarding my arcade monitor. I recently purchased an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 original arcade. Upon turning on the machine the monitor looks fine but it quickly develops a discoloration in the mid-left corner. Within a couple of minutes, this discoloration will mostly vanish. As the game stays on, the discoloration comes and goes. I have had the machine in 3 different locations to make sure it was not a magnetic issue, which the location doesn’t change the way the discoloration comes and goes. I have also used a manual degaussing coil to attempt getting rid of it. The coil does not change it. Other than the discoloration coming and going, the monitor behaves fine with no other issues. I have attached pictures of the red and green test screens while it is discolored. I was thinking maybe it is a bad solder joint or capacitor and wanted to get your opinion. It is a Wells Gardner 25K7401 monitor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for having a site with great tips on how to maintain these games, it is a great help.
