Wells Gardner Monitor….
Question from Matt: Hi, I’ve watched so many of your videos on YouTube. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! I’ve recently wired up an old Capcom Bowling machine (previously Pengo) with a 60-in-1 iCade board. with the help of all your videos it was a snap. Unfortunately, as the game powers up and is working, the monitor displays upside down and is doubling the screen. Is there any hope for my machine?? I have a Wells Gardner vertical monitor that worked fine with the Capcom Bowling game just yesterday. HELP!! Thank you. Matt in CT

Response from Jonathan: Matt,
The iCade board has some dip switches that might help you out with your issues. Look at your board and locate a 4 bank of dip switches (these should be labeled SW3). According to the manual, dip switch one controls the screen orientation (either normal (OFF) or flipped (ON)). You might need to change the value of this dip switch to flip your screen so that it doesn’t display upside down. The other dip switch that might be of interest is dip switch 2 which controls the display mode (either CGA (OFF) or VGA (ON)). You might need to change the value of this dip switch to prevent the screen from doubling.
The screen doubling could also be caused by using an older monitor with a newer style board. There is a sync modification I’ve seen for the Wells Gardner K4600 (not sure which WG model you have) that can help with this. Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
