G07 monitor question
Question from Bryan: Hello, I just picked up a Centipede arcade game from a guy at work. The game worked fine before I got it. Once I got it home, I plugged it in and the noticed a problem with the monitor. The image displays fine and the game seems to work but the picture is narrow. Instead of have a picture that is 19″ wide, it is about 7″ wide. The height seems to be fine, it’s just the width that is the problem. I am guessing that it would be an adjustment problem but not sure. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction. Thank you, Bryan

Response from Jonathan: Bryan,
It sounds like a vertical deflection / collapse issue with your G07 monitor chassis. Before we try to repair the chassis, let’s see if we can find a vertical size potentiometer (or pot). Once you locate it, try adjusting it to see if the picture gets larger or smaller. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information.
If there is no effect on the picture when you are turning the pot then you probably have a monitor chassis issue. Time to check transistors X401 and X402 along with fusible resistor FR401. In fact, it’s a very good idea to check all of the parts in the 400 section as any of these parts could be causing this issue. Also, you might check out our post on Repairing Monitor Collapse Issues for more information on vertical size problems.
Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
