Monitor issue

Question from Cletus: I am sure you guys have addressed this issue but I am not sure on how to find it on Spreaker. I have a monitor on a Need For Speed GT that has lines in the upper half of the screen. I thought it was a issue of bad VGA cable or video card but I was wrong. Hopefully you can send me to a podcast episode that addresses this issue or maybe even help me out directly. Thanks for your time and response. Cletus

Response from Jonathan: Cletus,

Lines showing up on arcade monitors are usually either caused by sync issue or bad capacitors on the monitor chassis. Since you’re using a VGA cable to connect to the monitor, this is more than likely a bad capacitor issue on your monitor chassis. It’s probably a good time to order and install a cap kit on your monitor chassis. We discuss this a little bit in our post entitled More Troubleshooting Monitors With Michael. You might give it a look over and see if it answers your question. Of course, please feel free to contact us again if you need additional help solving this issue.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair.
