Monitor question

Question from Kylie: Hey guys, I am a recent owner of my first arcade system. Thanks for making all of the great videos, they have been really helpful so far. I was hoping you could look at the attached picture of my Playchoice 10 unit. The problem I’m having is that the top 2 inches of each monitor does not display a picture. Do you have any idea what I need to do to fix this issue? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kylie

Response from Jonathan: Kylie,

This curl that you are experiencing could be a couple of things. Let’s start by trying to adjust the monitors to see if it helps the issue. The potentiometers (or pots / knobs) that you will want to focus on are the horizontal and vertical hold. Check out our post on Adjusting An Arcade Monitor for more information. You might also try to adjust the B+ voltage if the horizontal and vertical hold adjustments do not help your issue. Check out this YouTube video (not ours) for information on how to adjust the B+ voltage on Sanyo 20ez monitors.

If you try the adjustments and the curl continues to be an issue, you might think about installing a cap kit on your monitors. Check out our post on Installing A Cap Kit for more information. Replacing the capacitors on these Sanyo 20ez monitors can fix a multitude of issues. Hopefully between the adjustments and the cap kit you can get this pesky curl out of your picture.

Hope that helps. Thank you for your question and good luck with you repair.
